Meet Dr. Sid

Dr. Dhrupad Siddhanta, better known to his patients and colleagues as Sid, is a registered specialist prosthodontist from New Zealand who has now called Sydney home for the past few years. He works with a team of dedicated specialists providing state-of-the-art, multi-disciplinary care at practices across Sydney. He is committed to providing the highest level of care for his patients, using cutting edge technology and innovative strategies in the treatment of simple through to complex dental cases.

Sid was awarded membership to the Royal College of Surgeons, Edinburgh by examination. He was also admitted as a Fellow to the Royal Australasian College of Dental Surgeons by examination. He was awarded a full Doctoral Scholarship by the University of Otago to pursue postgraduate studies and research in the field of Prosthodontics. He has been involved in clinical teaching at the School of Dentistry, University of Otago and has also been an examiner for the New Zealand Dental Council Registration examinations. He has lectured at various dental events and conferences in Australia and New Zealand. He is also the chair of the scientific committee of the Academy of Australian and New Zealand Prosthodontists, the peak body for the specialty of prosthodontics.

As a specialist in reconstructive, aesthetic and implant dentistry, Sid is uniquely equipped to handle complex clinical challenges. Part of a prosthodontist’s job is being the “architect” of the treatment plan and often co-ordinating between the various specialties to achieve the most desirable outcomes. He has developed a reputation for being able to rescue complex clinical complications with implant prosthetics and a number of his professional colleagues (dentists and dental specialists) are also his patients.

Sid also has a special interest in the use of digital technology in restorative dentistry and lectures frequently on techniques in digital dentistry.

In his spare time, Sid enjoys being involved in theatre and learning languages.

PROSTHODONTIST !! WHO?

A prosthodontist is a registered dental specialist who has completed dental school plus at least three additional years of advanced training and education in an Australian Dental Council – accredited prosthodontic graduate program. They specialize in treating and handling dental and facial problems that involve restoring missing tooth and jaw structures. A prosthodontist is highly trained in aesthetic dentistry, dental implants, crowns, bridges, dentures, temporomandibular disorders (TMJ/TMD), and more.

WHY CHOOSE A DENTAL SPECIALIST

A registered Dental Specialist is a dental professional who has completed a formal, university-based, post-graduate qualification in addition to their General Dentistry degree.

The average post-graduate Dental Specialist degree requires a minimum of three years, or 5000+ hours, of full time study and research. This is followed by a life-time commitment to specialty-specific training and education to reach the highest standards in a focused area of dental care. These skill and education standards must be maintained for a Dental Specialist to continue their registration with the Dental Board of Australia. A Dental Specialist is an expert in their field with a serious passion and dedication to their chosen specialty; they are armed with a wide range of advanced knowledge, equipment and techniques to ensure the very best care for you.
